It started with some deeply disappointed women stuck with DC hotel rooms for an inauguration they no longer wished to attend. Someone suggested a protest, and the Women’s March on Washington exploded from there. Now, we all have sisters in the struggle who are headed to DC tomorrow to link arms in outrage, solidarity, and hope, but some of us are staying behind. At last count, there were 370 sister marches happening all over the planet at the South Carolina State House on Saturday, and Columbia will have its own rally and strategy summit to engage and activate concerned citizens.
Marjorie Hammock and Becci Robbins from the South Carolina Progressive Network (and the organizers behind Saturday’s rally) joined me and my new partner-in-podcasts Tayanna Teel to discuss the politics – and politicians – that keep us up at night and what we’re going to to do about it. We hope you all STAND UP with us this weekend no matter where you are.
