A talented crew from the Nickelodeon Theatre, Kaitlin McKnight, Pedro Lopez De Victoria, Savannah Taylor, and Amada Torruella, joined me to discuss the many, many things on the horizon for our Columbia art house. We talked about their Holiday Series which includes traditional favorites (so no Christmas riots) and newer, more cynical anti-consumer classics, like SCROOGED! I interrogated them on their favorite holiday films and may have lingered on the topic of Michael Keaton for a little too long (my apologies).
The highlight, however, was listening to Amada and Pedro discuss the Black Stories and Sound & Vision series and the educational programs, Savannah talking about her design magic, and Kaitlin on the transformative changes working their way through the Nick. This is a loving group of young artists and thinkers fostering community and awareness here in Soda City. I can’t wait to have them back to tell me all about this year’s Indie Grits festival. Please listen and enjoy and maybe ignore some of my strange asides.
And, as always, so much gratitude to Optical Otter’s Robert Lipe, the technical genius behind our podcasts.
For those of you looking for a way to help the Nick’s Jessica Gaitor who critically injured in a hit and run accident, look no further.
